How we create BIM Objects:

Here at The BIM Men we put our years of experience into action building a wide range of BIM objects for our clients. We use industry leading Revit software for our designs.

We take your existing product specification information and use it to create 3D BIM model objects in Revit. The source information we work with usually includes elements such as:

  • Drawing files (.dwg, .dcf)
  • Technical specifications
  • Performance specifications
  • Product imagery
  • Brochures
  • Any existing 3D graphical representations

Our production team use these sources to produce an initial BIM model to the LOD 100(level of development 100)  standard, checking all important geometry and dimensional accuracy. At this stage we increase the level of detail as product properties are added to the BIM object until it reaches LOD 300 standard.

Building a BIM Properties Data Tables

During this phase we build the properties (parameters) data table that provides the vital information associated to the object and which is critical to its use in the overall design model. This is a crucial stage which guards against he possibility of there being too much data in the properties table. It is important to ensure this doesn’t occur because, if there is too much data when it is inserted into the model, the whole design model could slow down to the point it becomes unusable.

BIM Model Testing

At LOD 300 standard the model object is at beta level and ready for testing. It is then tested internally by The BIM Men team. We do this by inserting it into one of our test models (BIM design test projects). We follow this by seeking an assessment from one of our external testers. Only after passing these tests is the BIM object released to our client for their testing and final sign off.
